4 things that Confucius never did

“자절사(子絶四): 무의(毋意), 무필(毋必), 무고(毋固), 무아(毋我).”
– 공자



Confucius did not do any of the four things, which are '무의(毋意), 무필(毋必), 무고(毋固), 무아(我)'. In other words, he did not made a wild guess, he did not believe only in himself, he did not insist on himself, and therefore did not act coy. You can combine all of these into one attribute: humility. 

1. Don't make a wild guess. 
Common sense and prejudice differ by a piece of paper. You can't do everything by looking into it, but it's also dangerous to rely only on your intuition. You have to use your sense of balance. Before predicting something, always be wary of whether it is different from the truth or overly biased judgment. Even though it is annoying to be vague, it needs to be prudent to investigate and judge it once more. 

2. Don't believe only in yourself alone. 
Don't be too obsessed with right and wrong. There is nothing in the world that is 100 percent true. Most cases are conditional, even if they are correct. Self-belief is important, but if you believe it as an eternal truth, there will be many enemies around you. Unless it is a particularly important issue, conflicts of opinion with people around you should be resolved "different" and not "right or wrong." You'd better deal with it in a flexible manner.

3. Don't be stubborn till the end. 
There must be moments in life where one has to carry one's point of view. Especially if determination is an important leader. In such a moment, the government needs a driving force to push ahead based on its sense of responsibility But for the most part, there's not much to He who has to do every little thing his own way is apt to miss out on important things. It's important to know how to go easy on things and take only the important things. 

4. Don't put yourself forward. 
A cornered stone meets the mason's chisel. Our society is not so generous to those who come to the forefront. If he's out of it, he swears that he's showing off, and if he just walks out, he belittles me. In any case, there are many people who feel pride rather than confidence, so you should always be careful when you step up. It is okay to hear that he is somewhat pretentious, so he needs to be as humble as possible. Whether it's true or not.
